Identification of Specific Pathogens

The Laboratory is engaged in the Microbiological testing of food, water, and pharmaceutical preparations, and materials. Other than this, test for sterility is also carried out.

Parameters used in food testing include total bacterial count, total fungal count, coliforms, E.coli and test for pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella species, Shigella species. Shelf life studies of ready to eat foods and preserved foods is also undertaken.

Different types of waters are tested including drinking water from various sources, waste waters such as effluent and treated water, purified water, water used in Industry and cooling tower water and swimming pool water.
